The most recent analysis came three years ago and since then a lot has changed in the world, points out Peter Hultqvist, the Social Democrats' defense policy spokesperson.
"It is a very important message to the government that it takes this into account before the work starts," he says.
The defense committee will be appointed at the end of January. It will decide how the 300 billion that the parties have agreed to borrow to accelerate the rearmament of the defense will be used.
Among other things, Sweden wants to increase the number of conscripts to 12,000 already by 2030, see two additional army brigades (in addition to the four already decided) after 2030, invest in long-range systems and more air defense. It also wants to see a new amphibious battalion with multinational units on Gotland.
