The strike that threatened the deliveries of snus in Sweden has been called off, announces the Food Workers' Union (Livs).
It was on 20 March that Livs notified the company SMD Logistics, which delivers most of the snus and tobacco to stores in Sweden, of a strike. This was after the company left the Food Industry Association and a strike would threaten the deliveries.
The strike, which threatened the deliveries of snus, would have taken effect on 1 April. But from 1 April, their members are again part of the Food Industry Association, and sign an agreement with Livs, which thereby withdraws the strike notice.
"It is important that the employees' terms are secured with Livs collective agreement. The fact that the company applies the agreement designed for the business means that the company gets peace obligation in return. Therefore, we are now withdrawing the strike notice", says Jolan Wennberg, the second chairman of the Food Workers' Union.
