After a severe snowstorm swept in over Liverpool, the city's safety council was forced to hold an extra meeting to discuss whether Sunday's big match between Liverpool and Manchester United at Anfield would be cancelled or not.
However, it is now clear that the match will take place as planned. Liverpool confirms this on X.
"The match this afternoon will be played as planned. Two safety meetings were held earlier today to assess the weather and travel conditions", the club writes and continues:
"We would like to thank everyone involved in helping us carry out the match today. If you are traveling to Anfield, be extra cautious. We look forward to meeting you there."
The main reason for the meeting was whether the travel conditions for supporters were considered dangerous or not. Among other things, the city's airport has had to close its runway due to the heavy snowfall.
Earlier, Liverpool had to cancel another Premier League match. In December, they were forced to postpone the city derby against Everton due to Storm Darragh.
Kick-off is at 17.30.
