Skipped Black Friday – earned 40 percent more

The department store Gekås in Ullared went against the trend and completely ignored offering any discounts in connection with this year's Black Friday. It turned out to be a smart move.

On Friday, we had a growth of 40 percent, which is quite crazy, says Gekås CEO Patrik Levin to Göteborgs-Posten.

Last week, the department store has totally increased sales by 24 percent.

Primarily, it is the sale of children's clothing and children's shoes that is behind the increase, something they can thank the weather for.

It is noticeable that autumn and winter came quite late this year. Much of the growth is things you need, like the children having outgrown their winter jackets, says Levin to GP.

Earlier this month, Gekås also had its strongest sales week ever. November may therefore become a record month, which could also benefit the employees.

Last year, full-time employees received around 20,000 kronor extra on their February salary through the company's bonus system, according to GP.

We were ambitious last year, but if we deliver on our goals, we pay out bonuses if we can afford it, says Levin.
