The reigning champion team from Västerbotten was under pressure after two losses in Gävle, but has now reduced the SM semifinal series to 1–2 in best of seven matches.
This after a great start.
After 1.54, Jonathan Davidsson scored 1–0.
Then Max Lindholm got a breakaway and shot between the legs of Brynäs goalkeeper Erik Källgren.
Then the match clock showed 4.25.
We talked before about how we had had pretty bad starts in both matches (in Gävle) and that it was important to get a good one now. We're stepping it up, says Max Lindholm to TV4 Play.
"In the trap again"
The Brynäs players were dejected. Everything reminded of the quarterfinal series when Brynäs lost 2–0 in matches to 2–2 against Malmö on away ground.
We get a bad start again and we fall into the trap again of sinking too deep, says Brynäs coach Niklas Gällstedt to TV4 Play.
It's a recurring problem, I hope we can learn from it for the next match. Everyone wants to, but it went terribly wrong, he adds.
Rapid start in the second
The same thing in the second period.
It had only gone 34 seconds when Michael Brandsegg-Nygård scored 3–0.
Brynäs was brilliant in the two home wins, now the Gävle team was completely under pressure.
Shortly after the 3–0 goal, Brynäs got to play five against three for 1.40 without getting a reward.
Instead, Pär Lindholm could make it 4–0 before the second period was over.
Brynäs goalkeeper Erik Källgren was replaced before the third period by junior goalkeeper Oscar Westman, 18 years old.
Michael Brandsegg-Nygård became a two-goal scorer with his 5–0 goal in the third period before Oskar Lindblom could reduce.
The fourth semifinal, which is also played in Skellefteå, will be played on Thursday.
