Spain's Iberia airline, Portugal's Tap, Chile's Latam, Colombia's Avianca, Brazil's Gol and Trinidad and Tobago-based Caribbean airline all announced that their routes to Venezuela were being cancelled.
The decisions are confirmed by Marisela de Loaiza, who heads Venezuela's aviation organization Alav.
Late Friday, a warning came from the US aviation authority FAA about "increased military activity" in the region.
“The threats pose potential risks to flight at all altitudes, including overflights, takeoffs and landings, and to aircraft on the ground,” the FAA said.
The risk of conflict in the region has increased, including as the US has struck a number of ships suspected of smuggling drugs from Venezuela. But the US warnings also concern the Venezuelan regime and the country's authoritarian President Nicolás Maduro, who is accused of supporting drug trafficking.
In addition, the US has moved its aircraft carrier to Venezuelan coastal waters.
Maduro has responded by putting the country's military on war alert.
