This is according to a study conducted by three European consumer organizations, which states that the goods would be illegal to sell in Europe.
A total of 162 products were examined in the categories of toys, USB chargers and necklaces – of which 112 did not meet European standards.
Among the toys, the deficiencies included toxic content and choking hazards. And several of the necklaces contained the carcinogenic metal cadmium – one of them had 8,500 times the permitted amount.
Some products may be okay, but others pose serious safety risks, says Julie Frère, spokesperson for the Belgian consumer organization Testachat, to the Belga news agency, according to SVT.
Both Shein and Temu state that the products in question have been removed.
