Rents increased by an average of 4.6 percent this year. Last year, they increased by 5.0 percent, the highest rent increase since 1993.

Also in 2023, the increase was elevated. Before that, the annual rent increases for an apartment were between one and two percent, according to figures from the Statistical Central Bureau (SCB).

It is most expensive, not entirely unexpectedly, in the major cities. An average three-room apartment costs in 2025 in Greater Stockholm 10,139 kronor per month, in Greater Gothenburg 8,907 kronor and in Greater Malmö 10,432 kronor. In the group of smaller municipalities, the average rent was 8,131 kronor per month.
