Norway's opening goal came in the 36th minute after the match until then had mostly consisted of England passing the ball around in the opponents' half, and Norway defending disciplinedly without giving up any chances.

But then suddenly the Norwegian football masters came to the fore. First Erling Haaland rose to meet a cross and tested Jordan Pickford with a powerful header, which the England goalkeeper was able to parry relatively easily.

However, in the next wave of attacks he had no chance.

Andreas Schjelderup, who was given the chance to start for Norway instead of Antonio Nusa, received the ball to the left of the penalty area and sent it towards goal. Was it a cross? Was it a shot?

No matter what, it went in a perfect arc over Pickford and into the net via the far post.

The goal opened up the game and gave Norway, in particular, more chances to score. There were calls for more Norwegian goals, but instead England had the last word in the first half.

In added time, Anthony Gordon played Jude Bellingham through, who beat the defenders and rolled in 1-1.

In the second half, Norway dominated much of the game and came closest to scoring the winning goal. Torbjørn Heggem thought he had made it 2-1, but the goal was ruled out after a video review, when an unfair push from Erling Haaland was found. A moment later, Kristoffer Ajer came close to finding the target, but his header hit the crossbar.

There were no goals in the first half, and now extra time awaits, 2x15 minutes and then a possible penalty shootout, to determine a winner.
