Sam Hallam has been the national team captain for the men's national ice hockey team since the 2022–23 season. But the coming winter will be his last on the job, writes the Swedish Ice Hockey Association in a press release.
"I love the job. At the same time, I feel that I miss the daily club environment - coming to the hall every day and working close to people over time. Therefore, I want to move on after this season", says Hallam in a statement.

The 46-year-old is still in charge over the season's big highlights: the Olympic Games in Milan in February and the World Championship in Swiss Fribourg in May.
"We have a fantastic and important season with both the Olympic Games and the World Championship, and I want to finish at the top"
Then the moving truck goes to Switzerland. On Monday, Genève-Servette announced that Hallam has signed a contract for the 2028–29 season.
"GSHC has a happy news to tell this morning. From the 2026–27 season, the team will be led by Sam Hallam, who has signed a three-year contract", the club writes in a press release.
At the club team level, Hallam has previously been the head coach in Bofors (now Karlskoga) and Växjö. In the Småland club, he has almost iconic status after leading the team to three Swedish Championship gold medals (2015, 2018, 2021). He was named coach of the year in the SHL in both 2017 and 2018.
Grönborg replaces?
Tre Kronor's assistant national team captain Stefan Klockare is also leaving his assignment when his contract expires after the World Championship next year.
According to information to Aftonbladet it will be Rikard Grönborg, who led Tre Kronor to World Championship gold in both 2017 and 2018, who takes over after Hallam.
"I read it and it's great that it's being speculated. But when it comes to replacements and where we are in the process, I really have no comments", says national team manager Anders Lundberg to TT.
The 57-year-old Grönborg currently has an outgoing contract with the Finnish Tappara.
