"Hungary has made its choice. We respect this choice. We expect to continue our highly pragmatic contacts with Hungary's new leadership," he said.
The statement comes after the Tisza party, led by Péter Magyar, won a landslide victory in Sunday's elections.
Russian envoy Kirill Dmitriyev said that the election results will accelerate what he sees as an ongoing EU collapse.
"This will only accelerate the collapse of the EU. Check if I'm right in four months," he wrote on X in response to a post by British far-right activist Tommy Robinson.
Several EU leaders have congratulated Péter Magyar on his election victory.
