On Sunday evening, the first flight departs in a new direct line between Russia and North Korea.
The flight from Moscow to Pyongyang takes about eight hours and tickets can be purchased for just over 5,000 kronor, according to the airline Nordwind Airlines' website. The Russian state news agency Tass reports that the first flight in the opposite direction departs on Tuesday.
The line will be operated once a month, according to Russian authorities.
The airline opens shortly after the large resort Wonsan-Kalma on North Korea's east coast was inaugurated, but Russian tourists are not welcome there. The holiday resort with space for up to 20,000 guests was intended to become an engine in the North Korean economy and also receive Russians, but recently the tourism authority announced that foreigners are not accepted "for the time being".
