Märta Rosenberg won the women's final with over five seconds – an eternity in sprint – ahead of Gina del Rio from Andorra. Behind them, Elin Henriksson took the bronze.
I'm super happy, says the 22-year-old in the victory interview on SVT's broadcast.
Rosenberg dominated throughout the competition day. The Swede won the qualification with over seven seconds and was first in both her quarterfinal and semifinal.
In the men's final, Anton Grahn went out at a furious pace and created an early gap. Even though Grahn was eventually caught up by Måns Skoglund and Norwegian Jørgen Schjølberg, he was able to hold on and take the gold.
Skoglund secured the silver – just two hundredths of a second ahead of Schjølberg.
It feels very good. I actually felt a bit tired all day, but when I saw Märta lead from start to finish, I tried to do the same. I didn't quite succeed, but I was the first to cross the finish line, says 20-year-old Grahn, silver medalist in sprint at the junior World Championship last year, in SVT's broadcast.
Märta Rosenberg, Anton Grahn, and Måns Skoglund have all had smaller breakthroughs this winter.
Rosenberg, who also took two bronzes at the U23 World Championship last year, reached her first semifinal in the World Cup in French Les Rousses in mid-January. And last weekend, both Grahn and Skoglund reached the same milestone during the World Cup competitions in Italian Cogne.
