Viktor Gyökeres' goal delivery in both the Swedish national team and in the club team Sporting Lisbon – a total of 60 goals during the year – means that the 26-year-old has been named Forward of the Year on the men's side for the second year in a row.
"The competition is top-class. Alexander is an incredibly good striker who performs in one of the world's best leagues. It's not easy and I'm glad I managed to win this award again this year, it feels really great," says Gyökeres.
Johanna Rytting Kaneryd is awarded on the women's side, after having grown into a player at the highest international level during the past year.
"I'm grateful to receive this award, as there are so many skilled forwards and it's really tough competition," she says.
In the motivation, the jury writes that Rytting Kaneryd has taken new steps in both her club team Chelsea and in the Swedish national team, and has grown into a sharp goal-scorer.
"I've had it as a motto this year, that I'm going to become a goal-threatening player. And I feel like I've done a lot of that this year, in terms of goals and assists. So it's a wonderful confirmation of that," says Rytting Kaneryd.
