Örebro municipality is pausing all exercises with a safety app since two false alarms of threats and violence have been issued at Campus Risbergska on Wednesday, writes SVT News Örebro.

The false alarm was issued in connection with an exercise in a staff group. During the exercise, the same app was used as during the mass shooting on February 4.

"I regret that this happened, and understand that it was a difficult experience for everyone who received the alarm, since the violent act at Campus Risbergska is so close in time and it evoked terrible memories", says Mokhtar Bennis, head of operations for upper secondary and adult education, in a press release.

The municipality has been working for some time to review how the app should be used.

"We are very keen that no one should receive incorrect alarms, it causes fear and anxiety and can also mean that you distrust completely correct alarms. So before we have done the basic work, all exercises are now paused, and only theoretical training can be conducted", says Mats Brantsberg, safety manager in Örebro municipality.

Ten people were killed and six injured when 35-year-old Rickard Andersson opened fire at Campus Risbergska in Örebro on February 4, 2025. Shortly after the police arrived at the school, Andersson took his own life.
