Just over 20 years after the high-profile Knutby drama, new information has emerged about the murder of the pastor's wife in January 2004. Aftonbladet's review points to several shortcomings in the investigation - and the question is raised whether it was really the nanny who fired the fatal shots.
Now the prosecutor who led the preliminary investigation, Elin Blank, has announced that she will review the material again.
"I will look at the forensic part and the autopsy report and interview the medical examiner. I have ordered it from the archive and before I have looked at it I cannot respond to what is being said," she tells SVT Nyheter Uppsala .
She has previously refused to comment, but now says that as the person responsible, she needs to investigate the basis for the review's claims.
Alternative perpetrator
One of the points in Aftonbladet's investigation concerns whether more shots may have been fired at the pastor's wife than the nanny - who was convicted of the murder - stated she fired.
There may be an alternative perpetrator, someone who shot (the pastor's wife) in the head before (the nanny) got there, says forensic scientist Sonny Björk in Aftonbladet's review.
According to the review, it is not possible to determine that all the shots came from the same weapon – and the information about shooting angles is not correct.
The nanny has stated that she was standing on the left when she shot, but one shot appears to have been fired from the right.
May have been killed earlier
According to Sonny Björk, the bed and bedding were not properly examined. A pool of blood under the bed could indicate that the pastor's wife had been killed earlier.
The entrance opening in the right hip showed no bleeding, says Anders Eriksson, professor of forensic medicine, adding that the conclusion must be that the pastor's wife was already dead when she was hit in the hip by the nanny's shot.
The Court of Appeal sentenced the nanny to forensic psychiatric care for the murder of the pastor's wife and the attempted murder of a neighbor. The Knutby pastor was sentenced to life imprisonment for inciting the murder of his wife and the neighbor.

On January 10, 2004, the wife of pastor Helge Fossmo was found murdered in the couple's home in the small community of Knutby outside Uppsala. In the neighboring house, a 30-year-old man was found shot. Fossmo was later sentenced to life imprisonment for incitement to murder and attempted murder, and a woman, called the nanny, who carried out the acts, received forensic psychiatric care.
The incident also drew attention to the Philadelphia congregation to which Fossmo belonged. Information gradually emerged about the group's special interpretation of the Bible, where the concept of the bride of Christ was interpreted as meaning a person – a woman in the Knutby congregation.
Helge Fossmo's sentence was later commuted and he has been on parole for a few years now. Barnflickan was released in 2011.
