It is unclear how high the new offer is, but it is reported to be higher than the $30 per share Paramount Skydance offered for all of Warner Bros. Discovery in December. At that time, Warner Bros. Discovery's owners chose instead to accept a bid from Netflix for the film division and parts of the television business for $27.75 per share.
Paramount Skydance countered by improving the terms of its bid and was given seven days to convince shareholders to choose its offer instead. That deadline expired on Monday.
Warner Bros. Discovery includes the film company Warner Bros. as well as several television channels and streaming services, including HBO, HBO Max and CNN.
