North Korea's dictator has inaugurated a new street in Pyongyang - reserved for relatives of those killed in Russia's war against Ukraine.

Kim Jong Un and his daughter Kim Ju-Ae, widely seen as his likely successor, cut the ribbon on the new street on Sunday. The homes will house family members of North Koreans who have died “abroad,” according to state-run media in the closed country.

The party and government are taking all necessary measures to ensure these families live a dignified life, Kim said in a speech.

During the ceremony, Kim and his daughter, who is believed to be around 13 years old, greeted relatives of the fallen.

North Korea has sent at least 10,000 troops to support Russia's invasion of Ukraine. According to the regime in Pyongyang, more than 400 of them have been killed. South Korea estimates the number of dead at around 3,000.
