The accident occurred at the airport in Muan, in southern South Korea, on December 29. An investigation conducted by South Korean and American authorities together with the aircraft manufacturer Boeing has been ongoing since then.

The cause of the accident has still not been determined, but the investigators have, among other things, pointed to a bird collision and a fault in the landing gear as possible reasons for the plane's problems during landing and crashing into a concrete wall.

Now, they are also planning to investigate the reason why the recording of the two black boxes stopped, according to a statement from the transport department.

In the crash, 179 of the 181 people on board were killed.
