According to a statement from the Kremlin, the conversation primarily concerned Russia's ongoing war in Ukraine.
"Issues regarding Hungarian citizens mobilized into Ukraine's fighting forces and taken prisoner by Russia were also raised," the statement said, according to the AFP news agency.
In parallel, Orbán himself wrote on X that he has now turned to the EU Commission to demand that Ukraine once again allow Russian oil to pass through to Hungary.
“As long as (Ukrainian) President Zelenskyy does not return to reason and normality, Hungary will not support a single decision that is in favor of Ukraine,” Orbán warns.
Hungary is currently blocking both new sanctions against Russia and the EU's multi-billion-dollar loan to Ukraine over the oil dispute.
