At the well-attended press conference at Houston Stadium on Midsummer Eve, the questions from Swedish, Dutch and international reporters spread in a variety of different directions.
But, strikingly, many were about the Premier League stars from Arsenal and Liverpool, whose goals and assists for each other in Monterrey on Monday night resonated on football's biggest stage.
In the Dutch press and among orange fans - and certainly also in Ronald Koeman's squad - there is great respect for Gyökeres and Isak ahead of tonight's clash in Houston. The winner can book a place in the round of 16.
It's nice to have them. Both are top individual players, a little different in terms of qualities and characteristics and we will try to get the best out of them, says Potter.
Focus on the collective
To that, he repeated his mantra. It's about the collective. That determines the individual outcome on the field.
I focus on making the team work. That's the most important thing. If we can make the team work, we get the best out of them.
Are they the best attacking duo in the world?
I don't know, and it doesn't matter. They are the best for us. That's the truth. If our game works, they are a threat to any team. They are getting better and better together because they haven't played together that much.
Potter praised Gyökeres after the opening match, not least for his defensive work.
Viktor was outstanding. The job he did, the fights with the centre-backs, the pressing work. He is so important for us. As a team player he is incredible.
The national team captain has noted in training after training in Dallas that Alexander Isak is on a steadily upward curve after all his injuries this season.
The best is yet to come
We have built him up. There is more to expect from him; he has not reached his maximum. With the qualities he has and the type of player he is, he can still influence games. He is getting stronger and stronger, better and better.
"The most important thing for 'Alex' is that he enjoys his football. He likes being part of the national team. When he has a smile on his face, he is fantastic," says Potter.
The World Cup match against the Netherlands kicks off at 7:00 PM.
