Two days after the big loss against the Netherlands, Potter sat down for a chat with the Swedish journalists on site in Texas.

The start of the match wasn't good enough, he says after watching the match again. That parts of the performance were still at a really good level is another.

There may be changes.

A third is that there may be changes to the starting eleven for the group stage finale against Japan in Dallas, at 1 a.m. on Friday, local time in Sweden.

"It would be strange if I sat here and said that everything will look the same. It wouldn't be fair to the players. So yes, I will think about it," says Graham Potter.

However, he doesn't give much thought to criticism from fans on TV and on social media aimed at specific players. Center back Isak Hien received extra criticism after the 1-5 loss and the problems he had with the Netherlands' center forward Brian Brobbey, who scored two of the goals.

“A beast”

"He's a beast of a player, and would be a big challenge for any defender. But I love Isak Hien. I don't care what anyone says. As long as I'm here, he's playing," Potter said.

After tough losses, people always want to find scapegoats, says the national team captain. This time, Isak Hien was the target.

"He's doing everything in his power to represent his country in the best way possible. And then he gets criticized for someone scoring a goal, without people looking at the mistakes, my mistakes or the mistakes of the other players, that were made before that. I understand that people are disappointed after a loss. But the reality is more complex than that."
