He has been charged with accounting deficiencies in 2020 and 2021, when, according to the prosecutor, he had unreported income of almost 2.3 million kronor.
During the trial, he said that he earned approximately 30,000 kronor a week from posting videos on YouTube.
“The crimes have been assessed as serious because they involved very significant amounts,” says Karin Fogelström, councillor and chairman of the court, in a press release.
He has defended himself by saying that during this period he had to endure a lot of hatred and threats and that he prioritized creating YouTube content over accounting. He has also emphasized that he was young and inexperienced.
But the court notes that he was aware he was conducting an activity that required accounting. Rasmusson has also said that during this time he completely lacked knowledge of accounting and finance. Therefore, he must have understood that there was a great risk of deficiencies in the accounting.
Växjö District Court concludes that he was completely indifferent to whether his accounting met the requirements.
Rasmusson was previously one of Sweden's biggest YouTubers targeted at children, but his channel was shut down in 2022. According to Google, he had violated the child safety policy, which prohibits content that sexualizes minors.
In addition to two counts of gross accounting fraud, he was convicted of obstructing tax audits. He was also sentenced to pay a corporate fine of SEK 50,000.
