Happy but not satisfied. That's what the police say after the gang leader Mikael Tenezos was arrested in Mexico and is now in Sweden. Hundreds of Swedish criminals are still abroad, including two of the most notorious gang leaders, Rawa Majid and Ismail Abdo. We are working extremely intensively against all those who are influential, says Hanna Paradis at Noa.

The police have mapped out up to 800 criminal Swedes abroad. A hundred of them instigate and influence the Swedish situation picture.

Two of them are the notorious gang leaders Rawa Majid, also known as "Kurdiska räven", and Ismail Abdo, who goes by the name "Jordgubben".

Majid has long been internationally wanted for involvement in serious crime, including murder, linked to the Foxtrot network.

According to the Israeli intelligence service Mossad's information, 38-year-old Majid was recruited by Iran in the autumn of 2023. Today, it is unclear where he is located.

Good relations with Turkey

Abdo was arrested in Turkey last summer, suspected of several serious crimes. He is also suspected in Sweden, which he left several years ago.

We have very good relations with the Turkish authorities and they are conducting their own legal process down there, and we have respect for that, but we continue the dialogue with them, of course, says Hanna Paradis, deputy head of the investigation unit at Noa (National Operational Department).

The police have recently intensified cooperation with other countries to get to Swedish criminals abroad. During the year, they have made trips to, among other places, Iraq, Dubai, and Turkey.

Two arrested in Europe

The leader of the Dalen network, Mikael Tenezos, known as "Greken", was arrested in Mexico last weekend and is now in Sweden after being internationally wanted by Interpol.

The arrest in Mexico is one of three that has taken place abroad recently. Recently, wanted Swedes who belong to the criminal upper echelon have also been arrested in Austria and Denmark, according to Niclas Andersson, head of Noa's investigation unit.

During the year, we have arrested over 200 individuals. We believe that quite a few of them are key figures who affect us in Sweden to a fairly large extent. So that's what we're happy about, he says, and emphasizes that they don't mean they're satisfied.
