PKK leader Mustafa Karasu says to a Kurdish TV station that ”groups in the heart of (the Turkish) state are trying to sabotage the process”. Karasu, who is one of those who was involved in founding PKK, has worked close to the imprisoned leader Abdullah Öcalan. It was Öcalan who from the prison island Imrali explained that PKK would lay down its arms in February – and dissolve the organization.

Karasu referred to the fact that the situation for Öcalan has not improved, despite the announcement.

Some friends have been allowed to come to Imrali, but it is not enough. The isolation has lasted for 26 years, said Karasu to the TV company and referred to the 74-year-old Öcalan's prison stay.

We are ready (for a disarmament process) but it is the government that has not taken any steps, said Karasu on Wednesday.

The idea has been that PKK formally would lay down its arms in a ceremony in the beginning of July, where PKK would be represented by about twenty members. The ceremony has been planned to be held in the city Sulaimaniya, but Karasu mentioned nothing about a ceremony during the interview.
