Manchester City fails to crawl out of their deep form crisis. In the Boxing Day match against Everton, it didn't even help when Erling Haaland got a chance from 11 meters. Jordan Pickford went the right way and saved the Norwegian's penalty, which could have given City a 2-1 lead at the beginning of the second half.
And no more goals were scored.
The reigning champions had to settle for a draw and are getting further away from a fifth consecutive league title.
City came into today's first Premier League match on classic "Boxing Day" with a heavy burden: only one win, two draws, and nine losses in their last twelve matches.
Against Everton, it looked promising at first. As early as the third minute, Josko Gvardiol hit the post, and before a quarter of the game was played, City had deservedly taken the lead. Bernardo Silva scored the 1-0 goal in the 14th minute.
But City is a vulnerable team right now, and out of nowhere came the equalizer in the 36th minute. The ball fell in front of an unmarked Iliman Ndiaye, who nicely scored 1-1 with an outside shot.
Later, the penalty miss contributed to yet another point loss. Manchester City has to lick its wounds and recharge quickly for Sunday's away match against Leicester.
