Jose Mourinho was back at Stamford Bridge – but had to leave his old home arena empty-handed. Chelsea won over Benfica with 1–0 in Champions League.

The first time he stepped into Chelsea's home arena in London, he called himself "The special one".

Now, the 62-year-old coaching legend is not so special anymore, but his Benfica was far from hopeless against an injury-ridden Chelsea.

The only goal of the match came from an own goal in the 18th minute by Richard Rios, who deflected Alejandro Garnacho's pass into his own goal.

Samuel Dahl played the entire match for Benfica.

Mourinho took over Benfica earlier in September after their opening loss in the Champions League against Karabach, which cost Bruno Lage his coaching job.

Mourinho was praised by Chelsea fans who sang his name several times, Mourinho responded with a blow kiss and waved.

At the press conference before the match, Mourinho said that he will always have a part of his heart in Chelsea:

Of course, I will always be blue. I am part of their history and they are a part of mine. I helped them become a greater Chelsea and they helped me become a greater José.

José Mourinho led Chelsea from 2004-07 and 13-15 and won three Premier League titles, three league cup titles and one FA Cup title.
