Most of the arrests were made due to violations of the curfew. Clashes between police and demonstrators were fewer than in previous nights.
The curfew covers parts of central Los Angeles since the night before Wednesday. According to Mayor Karen Bass, the measure aims to stop vandalism and looting.
According to Bass "the cup ran over” since a dozen businesses were looted during the protests, which are directed against the ICE agency's stepped-up raids on residents in areas dominated by Latinos. The massive protests have been going on in Los Angeles since Friday and have spread across the country.
Since Saturday, a total of several hundred people have been arrested in the city in connection with the demonstrations, the police announced earlier.
Almost 90 people were taken into custody in New York during the night before Wednesday.
President Donald Trump has called in around 4,000 National Guardsmen as well as 700 Marine Corps soldiers to Los Angeles. On Tuesday, the National Guard was given expanded powers: in addition to guarding federal buildings, they will now also protect ICE personnel during raids on migrants lacking proper documentation.
