In Pakistan, more than 110 people, of which about fifty children, have died as a result of heavy monsoon rains since the end of June, the country's government reports. The main reason for the deaths was electric shocks followed by flooding, according to figures from the country's disaster authority. At the end of June, 13 tourists died when they were swept away by a flooded river. The province that has been hardest hit is Punjab in eastern Pakistan, which is also the country's most populous.

At the same time, the national meteorological authority has issued warnings for further heavy rain in the northern and eastern parts of the country, with a risk of landslides and flooding, as well as damage to infrastructure due to strong winds.
