The 110 miners, who are also on hunger strike, had marched 200 kilometers in nine days before they were arrested in the capital Ankara on Tuesday morning, their union said.
Upon their arrest, the men staged a bare-chested sit-in outside the Department of Energy, several with the message "we are hungry" on their chests.
The miners are demanding payment of outstanding wages and statutory compensation. According to the union, they have only received two monthly salaries in the last 15 months.
"In this country, workers don't count, only money matters. Shame on those who rule this country," Gökay Cakir, chairman of the miners' union, told the workers on Monday evening.
