Norway's so-called bonus prince has been in custody for just over five weeks on suspicion of assault, threats with a knife and breach of restraining orders. He faces a total of 40 charges including rape and domestic violence.
On Monday, it became known that 29-year-old Høiby had applied to the Oslo District Court for release. Now, the court has decided that he should not be released from custody.
The court considers that continued detention is sufficiently justified and that it does not constitute a disproportionate intervention. The court refers to the seriousness and scope of the matter and the high risk of repetition, the district court writes in the decision published on Tuesday afternoon.
Corrected: In a previous version, the wrong number of crimes Marius Borg Høiby is charged with was stated.
