The director Robert Benton has passed away at the age of 92, writes New York Times. The filmmaker is most known for the divorce drama "Kramer vs. Kramer" from 1979, which received five Oscars, including for best film and direction as well as to the two leading actors Meryl Streep and Dustin Hoffman.
Benton was originally a designer for magazines, but changed tracks and was Oscar-nominated for his screenplay, for "Bonnie and Clyde" in 1967.
Later in his career, he directed, among other things, "A Place in My Heart" with Sally Field and "Billy Bathgate", where he was reunited with Dustin Hoffman.
