The anti-EU nationalist Orbán is facing a historic challenge to his 16-year rule, as the opposition, led by Péter Magyar's Tisza party, is leading in independent polls.
Now Orbán accuses the opposition of "spare no effort to seize power" in a video published on social media.
The Prime Minister claims that the opposition is "colluding" with foreign intelligence services and that they are threatening his supporters with violence.
This is an organized attempt to use chaos, pressure and an international smear campaign to question the decision of the Hungarian people, Orbán claims.
Magyar responds with his own accusations directed at Orbán's party.
"The ongoing electoral fraud carried out for months by the ruling Fidesz party, along with criminal acts, intelligence operations, disinformation and fake news, cannot change the fact that Tisza will win this election," writes Péter Magyar in a Facebook post.
He also urges Hungarians to "not to be fooled by any form of provocation" ahead of Sunday's election.
