The two craftsmen who found gold bars in a maple drawer in an attic in Mölndal in 2023 want to withdraw from the dispute over the find, reports Göteborgs-Posten.

According to GP, the craftsmen's lawyer, Ann-Cathrine Söderström, has announced in a letter to the Gothenburg District Court that her principals "are withdrawing their lawsuit on the condition that each party bears their own legal costs."

Previously, the Administrative Court has ruled that the find is not lost property, which means that the craftsmen who made the find did not have legal support to be able to claim a finder's compensation.

"We have therefore chosen to withdraw the lawsuit. It does not make sense to proceed to a possible main hearing with the risk of having to pay the opposing parties' legal fees," Ann-Cathrine Söderström tells GP.

The find – ten kilos of gold and four kilos of platinum – was made by the two craftsmen during a renovation of the house commissioned by Lucas Simonsson and Carl Déman, who are part of the comedy trio JLC. According to Göteborgs-Posten, the find that is the subject of the dispute today is worth almost 13 million kronor.

In addition to the JLC duo and the craftsmen, the seller of the house and his two siblings (via an estate) have also laid claim to the gold.
