As a result of rising energy prices, the government decided in March on a temporary electricity and gas subsidy for consumption during January and February. The subsidy is now being paid to everyone who has an electricity grid agreement - but for many it is a small sum. Figures from Sweden's ten largest electricity grid companies, compiled by Ekot, show that one in three receives at most 100 kronor.
Minister of Energy and Enterprise Ebba Busch (KD) defends that the support is directed to everyone with an electricity grid agreement.
Some people also receive several hundred kronor in electricity subsidies. In total, it amounts to 3.4 billion, which is not exactly pocket change. We have assessed, on balance, that the Swedish people should know that we support them financially, she told Ekot.
