Wasserman's name surfaced because of text messages he sent to Epstein's girlfriend and accomplice, Ghislaine Maxwell, in 2003. He has apologized, noting the messages were sent more than 20 years ago, but has still faced calls for his resignation from politicians in Los Angeles.
At a press conference in Milan during the ongoing Winter Games, Wasserman is backed by Gene Sykes, chairman of the USOPC.
"I would say that today I have more confidence in LA28's operational capability, leadership, quality and how well they have executed it than I have at any time since I started working with LA28 in 2015."
Sykes says.
Wasserman has not been convicted or charged with any crime.
