Fastest on three stages on Friday, four more stage wins on Saturday and on Sunday highest on the podium – after two new stage wins.
A tearfully happy Solberg was interviewed after the triumph in TV4's broadcast:
After all the years of attempts and dreams. I and Elliot (Edmondson, co-driver) have finally reached the goal.
Unclear future
In total, the winning margin for Solberg was 25.2 seconds down to the second-placed, Estonian home driver Ott Tänak. Third came the reigning champion Thierry Neuville, Belgium.
The win in Estonia is thus Solberg's first at WRC level. The Swede has previously had eight wins in the WRC2 class and got the chance in WRC after those successes.
I do not know, Solberg answers to what awaits him next.
The race in Finland and try to do my best, he gets out between tears of joy.
First in 28 years
The World Championship event in Finland will be held already the first weekend in August.
I just want to say thank you to Toyota, to the team that made me feel so relaxed, for all the help this weekend from this beautiful, beautiful team. I have never had it this good before.
Solberg's triumph in Estonia is the first Swedish win in a WRC event in 28 years, when Kenneth Eriksson won the event in New Zealand.
When it comes to the overall standings in this year's World Championship, Ott Tänak, with his second place in Estonia, passed the Welshman Elfyn Evans in the overall standings.
