Elvira Öberg drove up to a sixth place and became the best Swedish. Franziska Preuss won at the same time and increases her lead in the total World Championship.

After Friday's tough sprint, Elvira Öberg had a tricky starting position ahead of Saturday's pursuit in Le Grand Bornand.

Öberg did what she could – and made a significant climb after starting the race as 32nd. At the finish, the Swedish biathlon star had advanced to sixth place.

Öberg missed two shots in the prone position, but then shot full house in both standing series.

It's really fun to get revenge from yesterday, says Öberg to SVT.

Franziska Preuss of Germany won 27 seconds ahead of Julia Simon, France. Öberg was ultimately only 57 seconds behind the winner and had just 13 seconds up to Vanessa Voigt, Germany, on the last podium spot.

Halfway through the race, it looked like the season's big sensation, Ella Halvarsson, would be the best of the Swedish skiers. Halvarsson had climbed from 28th to sixth ahead of the third shooting, but there she shot herself out with three misses.

Halvarsson finished 24th. Next best among the blue-yellow skiers was Anna Magnusson, who repeated her tenth place from the sprint.

On Sunday, mass starts await in Le Grand Bornand before the biathletes can look forward to a little Christmas break.
