AIK Triumphs 4-3 After Referee Incident Halts Match

The Allsvenskan meeting between AIK and IFK Norrköping was interrupted after an assistant referee was hit by thrown objects. AIK then turned it around in front of a large home crowd and won 4–3 – after Christoffer Nyman made history with his 100th and 101st goals for "Peking".

The scandalous scenes at Strawberry Arena in Solna unfolded after an intense duel between AIK's John Guidetti and IFK Norrköping's Kojo Peprah Oppong in the 77th minute with the score at 2-3. To the home crowd's discontent, Oppong had been awarded a free kick after being brought down by Guidetti. This occurred after Oppong, in an earlier situation in the same sequence of play, had received a cautionary warning – but not been sent off – after tripping Guidetti.

The substituted AIK player, who had made it 2-3, was one of several who protested to the chief referee Granit Maqedonci.

It was blackout. I went in and apologized to the referee afterwards. I said: "The team needed it. You got it. I'm sorry." I needed to ignite the team. Needed to ignite the arena. Needed to ignite everything, says John Guidetti to Max.

Objects were thrown onto the pitch, with at least one hitting the assistant referee Per Rehnlund, according to TV footage from Max. This resulted in Granit Maqedonci interrupting the match for about a quarter of an hour.

After the match resumed, the home team turned the game around in front of a crowd of around 40,000 spectators. First, defender Mads Thychosen equalized to 3-3 in the 84th minute, and then Johan Hove scored the winner in the 90th.

We didn't talk about crossing the finish line. We talked about winning the match. That's what we all said: We're going for three points. I think that's an incredibly strong mentality, says John Guidetti.

AIK thus took their second consecutive win in the Allsvenskan series opener after winning 1-0 away against Gais in Göteborg on Monday.

"Totte" surpassed Ove

Christoffer "Totte" Nyman had been the match's leading figure before the interruption, having scored both his 100th and 101st goals for IFK Norrköping when he made it 2-1 and 3-1.

The 32-year-old striker, who in the home premiere against Öster (4-3) last week made his 300th match for "Peking", thus surpassed the legend Ove Kindvall, who scored 100 goals for the club.

"Bajen" won the derby

In Sunday afternoon's other Allsvenskan match in Stockholm, the derby between Brommapojkarna and Hammarby, "Bajen" took their second consecutive win and won 2-0.

Shaquille Pinas and team captain Nahir Besara scored the goals in the second half at Grimsta IP.
