The tension rose with each passing minute of overtime before William Nylander secured the victory for his Toronto team with the decisive 3-2 goal against St. Louis. Luckily for the Swede, he started the game by giving the opposing team points.

The score was 2–2 between the two teams when the match at Toronto's home ground went into overtime.

With less than a minute left in the game, it was time for Nylander to make the decision, assisted by teammates Morgan Rielly and John Tavares.

Magic!, the match commentators exclaim after the winning goal.

That's as good as it gets.

It is Toronto's first win after five straight losses.

"It was a nice victory after the tough period we had. To fight and compete to get the victory, it was nice," Nylander said after the game, according to nhl.com .

I think that's what it takes to be a good team and be able to win these types of matches.

Nylander wasn't the only Swede to deliver in the game, however. Oliver Ekman-Larsson gave Toronto the lead when he set up Steven Lorentz for the team's 2-1 goal in the sixth minute of the second period.

Although it ended well for the Canadian team, the game started off badly when Nylander accidentally shot the puck into his own goal.

I said sorry. He said, "It's okay." I said thank you," Nylander says of his apology to goalie Joseph Woll after the mishap.

Woll was rather impressed by Nylander's ability to change.

"It's elite class. His personality is his superpower. He can stay pretty consistent. Whether he scores against us or them, he's basically the same," he says.
