The very first goal of the game was scored by Swede Erik Karlsson, who gave Pittsburgh the lead in the first period. Heading into the third period, Pittsburgh led 3–0, but that was before Nylander got going for Toronto.
The first point came three and a half minutes into the final period, when Nylander assisted teammate Auston Matthews. Not even a minute later, the Swedish star had scored his first goal of the game. The dream minutes ended with the tie at 3-3 just seven minutes into the third, then with an assist from Oliver Ekman-Larsson.
"We played lousy for two periods, so we just tried to do something," Nylander said after the game, according to nhl.com .

After Bobby McMann scored the last goal of the game with just over six minutes left, Toronto was able to take the game home 4–3.
