Nottingham's Swedish winger Anthony Elanga had scored goals in three consecutive matches before the away game against Everton.
The streak was broken when Elanga was goalless at Goodison Park, but he was still highly involved in the 2-0 win. He headed a pass to Chris Wood's 1-0 goal after a quarter of an hour. And when Morgan Gibbs-White scored the second goal in the second half, it was after Elanga had snatched the ball and initiated the work leading up to the goal.
Won the league in the 70s
The three points – Nottingham's fifth consecutive – means that the team at least temporarily climbs to second place in a somewhat faltering Premier League table. This after a remarkably strong first half of the season, where the former top club has earned 37 points in 19 matches.
Nottingham won its only league title in the 1977-78 season and followed it up by winning the European Cup two years in a row, the first time after a final victory over Malmö FF.
Last but one season, Nottingham was back in the Premier League after spending 23 consecutive seasons in lower divisions. The two seasons after the return ended modestly – in 16th and 17th place respectively – after Nottingham had secured the contract with a relatively small margin.
Much remains of this season, but it is likely to end significantly more cheerfully for the venerable club founded in 1865.
Tough for "Spurs"
If Nottingham is the season's big positive surprise, then Tottenham is at the other end of the scale.
At home against Wolverhampton, it looked like it could be a much-needed win, after Dejan Kulusevski played Brennan Johnson forward to the 2-1 goal just before the break. But "Wolves" Norwegian Jørgen Strand Larsen fixed 2-2 in the 88th minute.
The result meant yet another heavy blow for Tottenham, which only ranks eleventh. Lucas Bergvall had to sit on the bench for the entire match.
