Norway's fans have been "rowing" both inside and outside the World Cup stadiums. After the 3-2 victory over Senegal, the phenomenon reached new heights when the Norwegian players and managers, led by team captain Martin Ødegaard, rowed together.
Sweden's Gustaf Lagerbielke has struggled to avoid the Norwegians' new stand-up tradition. And he thinks that Norway's "rowing" may be a bit similar to a variant that went viral during the 2016 European Championships.
"It's great that they think it's fun. It's very similar to the Icelandic 'Volcano'. But 'whatever floats your boat'," says Lagerbielke.
The Braga defender admits that it would be fun if Sweden had something similar, as a way to bring fans and players closer together. But he also says the Swedish team has already had its fill of the Norwegian rowing.
"We just sigh when we see it. But maybe we sigh more at the TV crews who zoom in on it every time."
National team left-footed player Elliot Stroud shares the sentiment.
"It's a bit of a cliché, maybe. It feels like they run it as soon as they get the chance. But it's going well for them, so they're probably happy," says Stroud.
