Gjerde Alnæs wins after sprint – Larsson second

Jenny Larsson was always part of the leading group. But no victory in the long-distance cup Ski Classic was achieved – Norwegian Anikken Gjerde Alnæs took care of that. Instead, the 28-year-old finished second in Italy.

Anikken Gjerde Alnæs, Silje Øyre Slind or Jenny Larsson?

The trio fought for victory in the six-mile race in Italy – and everything was decided in the end.

With just over a kilometer left, Norwegian Øyre Slind dropped out and in the sprint, her compatriot Gjerde Alnæs secured the victory.

Larsson finished second and thus took her first podium of the season.

I was set for a sprint and wanted a sprint too, but I didn't have enough speed. I didn't get enough pace and Anikken was faster there, she says to SVT.

The Swede was still pleased with the race.

Shit, how long-awaited with a podium, I needed that.

It was bitter to lose the first place when it was so close, but I see it as if I won a second place.

On the men's side, there was Norwegian dominance.

Six skiers from the nation fought for victory, and in the end, it was Kasper Stadaas who was the best of all.

The 30-year-old sprinted to victory and won the six-mile race ahead of second-placed Amund Riege and third-placed Andreas Nygaard.

The best Swede became Max Novak, who finished eleventh, 56.3 seconds behind the winner.

Already on Sunday, the next race awaits, when 11 kilometers will be skied, but men's winner Stadaas has chosen to skip the competition.
