The resort, with space for up to 20,000 guests, is intended to become an engine in the North Korean economy and will later in July be opened up for Russian visitors.
According to the state propaganda agency KNCA, North Koreans "filled with joy" flowed from the entire country and in all ages to the beach.
"The visitors were amazed by the tourist city's greatness and splendor", it says from KNCA.
The country's leader, Kim Jong-Un, who last week cut the ribbon to Wonsan-Kalma, has long wanted to develop the tourism industry in the country. And since February 2024, Russian tourists have been welcomed to the otherwise so closed country.
