The North Korean loudspeakers have not been heard on Thursday, according to the military.
On Wednesday, South Korea stopped its loud broadcasts, including pop music and news, to its northern neighbor. The measure is part of the new president Lee Jae-Myung's attempt to "restore trust" between the countries. When he was elected president, he promised to work for peace on the Korean Peninsula.
People living near the border have been critical of the broadcasts, saying they have caused noise.
The ties between the neighbors have deteriorated during the time of the former president Yoon Suk-Yeol in office. He was impeached, accused of attempted insurrection due to the fact that he last December declared a sudden state of emergency with war laws.
The two countries have never made peace after the war in 1950-1953, but a ceasefire is still in effect.
