The authors Jonas Hassen Khemiri and Annika Norlin have ended up on the so-called "long list" for a prestigious American literary prize.

Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence is awarded to a fiction book and a non-fiction book every year since 2012.

Jonas Hassen Khemiri's "The Sisters" was published in Swedish in 2023 and is about three sisters who arouse curiosity when they move into the million programme area on Södermalm in the early 2000s. The novel is permeated by the sisters' English dialogue. A deliberate move by the author, who wrote the entire novel in English. It has been nominated for the August Prize and the National Book Award in the USA.

Annika Norlin's "The Stack" follows Emelie who becomes burned out and seeks rest in the forest, where she meets a group that lives completely outside of society. For the novel, Norlin has been awarded the newspaper Vi's literature prize and Swedish Radio's novel prize.

On November 18, it will be announced who will be on the short list for the Andrew Carnegie award, a total of three novels. The winner receives $5,000, equivalent to 47,000 Swedish kronor.
