Støre was one of the heads of government who arrived by train on Sunday morning in a capital that has suffered heavy civilian losses in Russian attacks during the summer.

"Russia has no scruples when it comes to distinguishing between civilian and military targets. It is civilian infrastructure, housing, schools and hospitals that are affected, which is a consistent violation of international law," the prime minister said on the night train.

War of attrition

Frederiksen also comments on the Russian bombings, and she emphasizes how important it is to continue supporting Ukraine.

Russia has had a primary strategy in this far too long war, and that is to use exhaustion as a weapon; the Ukrainians will give up, Europe will give up, the West will give up, and our populations will start saying: “Hasn't this gone on long enough, haven't we put enough money into this?” she tells Danish TV2.

Nordic-Baltic meeting

Several summits are being organized in Kyiv, including between Ukraine and the NB8 - the cooperation group for the eight Nordic and Baltic countries, including Sweden.

Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal and Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda are also in Kyiv, they announced on their respective accounts on X.

"35 years have passed since Estonia restored its independence and Ukraine proclaimed its own. Today we celebrate Ukraine's National Flag Day and meet at the NB8-Ukraine Summit," writes Kristen Michal.
