The injury and absence list is just getting longer and longer. Here are the latest setbacks ahead of the national team's World Cup qualifier against Switzerland: Victor Nilsson Lindelöf will miss the match and Alexander Isak is not ready to start. It is clear that it is always disappointing to lose players due to injuries, says Graham Potter.

The new national team captain had appointed Lindelöf as team captain for what will be the Englishman's first match as a base for the national team.

But Lindelöf missed Friday morning's training in Marbella, due to an injury, before the national team traveled on to Geneva.

At the press conference before the meeting with Switzerland, the 31-year-old center back was replaced by Isak Hien, who took his place at the podium next to Potter.

He (Lindelöf) had a little feeling yesterday, so he can't play tomorrow night. But hopefully he can play on Tuesday (against Slovenia).

Earlier this week, both Hugo Larsson and Lucas Bergvall were forced to leave the collection.

"Obviously it's always disappointing to lose players to injury. We've had a very positive week. We've got a good squad, we need to focus on what we can do to make an impact," Potter said.

Potter also revealed that Alexander Isak is not in the starting eleven against Switzerland.

“Gotta be smart”

"He's not ready to play two 90-minute games in four days. We have to be smart and use him well," Potter said.

However, he did not offer that information to the Swiss media.

How much of a Graham Potter team will we see?

"We haven't had much time, but we've worked well. I hope we've created a way of playing where the players can be their best selves. Hopefully it's a Graham Potter team," says the national captain.

Jon Dahl Tomasson was fired after a weak start to the World Cup qualifiers, with just one point in the first four matches. Isak Hien hopes that the meeting with Switzerland will be a bit of a restart for the national team.

We know that the results have not been good enough and with that comes pressure to perform, says the Atalanta defender.

He says that they have used the week in Marbella, among other things, to try to get the group back together.

Hopefully we see a very united team with a lot of energy, who have pressed "reset" a bit and are looking forward, says Hien.

The sons in place

Potter has twin sons Sam and Theo on site at the Stade de Genève.

His wife has bought national team jerseys for the boys. Potter admits that the match is very special to him.

It will be very exciting. I am extremely proud to be the national team captain, very proud to work with the players. Great people. They love Sweden and playing with the national team. It is a great honor for me.
