The decision comes after Reiner's lawyer, Alan Jackson, withdrew and asked to be replaced by a public defender.
"Circumstances beyond our control, or more importantly, beyond Nick's control, have sadly made it impossible for us to continue to represent Nick," Jackson said of the decision to withdraw from the case.
The hearing, which was scheduled for Wednesday, was postponed until February 23.
Nick Reiner, the youngest of the Reiner couple's four children, was arrested hours after his parents were found dead in their Los Angeles home.
About ten years ago, Nick Reiner spoke publicly about his longstanding problems with substance abuse and mental illness.
